The New Media Center/CLC4 contains a general access area, two specialized classrooms/labs, one research lab, and one video/audio-finishing lab. General Access: | The General Access area is primarily for word processing and Internet access. It may be utilized by any SIU faculty, staff, or student possessing a valid SIUC system ID and password. This area is equipped with Macintosh and Windows computers, scanning stations for both flat art and up to 2 1/4 film, video digitization stations, a color printer, and a black and white laser printer. To print, you must obtain a print card from any of the Computer Learning Centers on campus. |  |
Classroom/lab 9A: |  | Room 9A is primarily designed for digital audio and video applications. This room is also equipped with MIDI interfaces (keyboards available at the Service Desk) and serves as an introductory 3D modeling and animation classroom/lab running MAYA software. |
Classroom/lab 9E: | Room 9E is primarily designed for digital imaging, web design, and multimedia authoring. Digital video editing can be accommodated here as well. |  |
Research Lab 9B: | Lab 9B is a restricted room in the New Media Center. Priority use of this room has been designated for faculty and graduate students; however, others may request access. The hardware in this room is generally more specialized than in the rest of the NMC and requires that individuals using these systems be properly oriented to the equipment.
The hardware configurations in this room are constantly changing. System specializations include large format printing, digital video production, multimedia authoring and programming, advanced 3D modeling and the Very Nervous System. Currently the room contains the following hardware and software, available here.
To apply for access to Room 9B, please obtain and complete a request form available at the service desk in the NMC. Your application will be forwarded to the NMC Director for approval. If you are approved for access, your ID information will be entered into the system and you will be able to use your SIUC ID to access the NMC and Room 9B after and/or during regular hours. Access to Room 9B does not necessarily but may include 24-hour access to the NMC that necessitates a separate request. |
Video/Audio Lab 9D: |  | Lab 9D is designed for video/audio finishing and is a restricted room in the New Media Center. Priority use of this room has been designated for faculty and graduate students; however, others may request access. The hardware in this room is specialized for finishing digital video/audio productions. To apply for access to Room 9D, please obtain and complete a request form available at the service desk in the NMC. Your application will be forwarded to the NMC Director for approval. If you are approved for access, you will be issued a key to Room 9D at the Service Desk. Access to Room 9D does not necessarily but may include 24-hour access to the NMC that necessitates a separate request. |
